clinical and/or research interests

Dr. Li Amily Guo's lab research focuses on platelet biology in normal human condition and hematological disorders, as well as the investigation of platelet-centered cell therapy.

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I in platelets plays an important role in antigen specific CD8+ T cell suppression in sepsis, and allogeneic MHC class I in platelets induces CD8+ T cell suppression, which is unique as compared to the allogeneic MHC class I in nucleated cells. Based on those observations, Dr. Guo is especially interested in how antigen presentation via platelet MHC class I is regulated and development of platelet-centered cell therapies.

Dr. Guo's lab is also interested in the biogenesis of platelets and ex vivo bioengineering of platelets, focusing on the actin cytoskeleton in platelet function and during platelet biogenesis.
