Academic Interests

In addition to providing outstanding patient care, our faculty all pursue academic interests as professors and instructors within the School of Medicine. Clinician Scholars focus on the education of students, residents, and fellows, while Physician Scientists specialize in basic, clinical, or translational research.

Fellowship and Education
Our fellowship training program prepares physicians for the subspecialty practice of Hematology and Medical Oncology. We focus on training MD and PhD scientists for academic careers as basic, translational, or clinical researchers in the areas of hematopoiesis, hemostasis and thrombosis, transfusion medicine, cytopenias, myeloproliferative disorders, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplasia, and gene therapy.

Our faculty actively participate in many formal and informal teaching conferences, lecture series, and continuing medical education programs throughout the University of Washington-affiliated system.
